| 1.
Install the UTSetup program.
The first thing that you need to do is install the
UTSetup program which is available online at http://www.skytrx.com/.
Just go to the Support Center section of the website.
After the setup program has completed, insert the UTK
into the USB port. You will see some prompts come up
automatically. Simply select the default selections
all the way through. WINDOWS MAY TAKE YOU THROUGH THIS
PROCESS FOUR TIMES. THIS IS NORMAL SO MAKE SURE YOU
DO NOT CANCEL THIS PART OF THE INSTALLATION.
2. Make sure the UTK is working properly.
You will see an Icon on your desktop call UTracking.
Run this program. A message box will come up telling
you to make sure the UTK is inserted. If your UTK is
inserted than ignore this message. Go to the Setup Tab
and click AutoFind. If the software cannot find the
UTK, you will get a warning. There will not be a warning
if the software finds the UTK. If you did not get a
warning, write down the “Map Program Port”.
It will be a COM with a number, like COM4. This can
change every time you insert the UTK so make sure you
are aware of this. THIS IS THE COM PORT THAT YOU WILL
USE WITH YOUR MAPPING SOFTWARE. Now you can either download
new data from the 3100 unit by going to the Download
tab, or your can open previously downloaded data by
going to the Play tab. In the play tab, you will see
a button with three dots. That is the button to open
previously downloaded data. After you have data loaded,
hit the play button. You will see the “Current
Position” count up as it plays the data.
3. Run your mapping program.
While the data is still playing in the UTracking software,
start your mapping software (For this example we will
use Microsoft Streets and Trips). With most mapping
software, there will be an option for setting up the
GPS receiver. For Streets and Trips, you select, Tools
| GPS | Configure GPS Receiver. The program will ask
you for a COM port. Use the one that you wrote down
previously (Map Program Port), example COM4. In Streets
and Trips, you then will go to Tools | GPS | Track Position.
You should see your data now being played back in Microsoft
Streets and Trips. If your mapping software asks you
about the NMEA format and baud rate, then you will select
4800 baud. The NMEA format is NMEA 0183.
